Words: Dan Smith
It’s old school, edgy grunge rock, with a more modern take with groovy drum beats and lovely “shalalala” backing vocals.
Influenced by bands like The Jam and Style Council, Fate of the Sun have hit gold with this storied track. The title played off as an laidback jest behind the true meaning, as the “Good2KnowU” title actually relates to a friends passing. This can be heard in the lyrics “just remember the good times, I thought they’d never end”.
I can hear The Style Council influence just through the upbeat guitar riffs and solos backed by more meloncholic lyrics, something Paul Weller executed perfectly in ‘Shout to the Top’.
An all round lovely tune to kick off the career of Fate of the Sun and I look forward to hearing much more!
