The Kendos – Rule the Real

Release Date – 22nd October 2020

Words: Charlie Kempen

The Kendos formed in Liverpool in 2018 and have just released their debut single ‘Rule the Real’ which is now available to stream on most platforms. The band consists of Louis Grover who lends his interesting vocals and vibrant guitar riffs to this single, Nathan Farley on bass, Isaac Grover on lead guitar and Tom Welsh on Drums. At first, I was shocked to find that they were so young due to their developed, mature sound but it just shows that the young, up and coming artists are the ones to watch out for.

The Kendos have found a place between genres with ‘Rule the Real’. On the outer packaging it clearly pulls influences from indie rock however, there are flares of Pink Floyd with psychedelic sounding guitar riffs throughout which provides for a very intriguing listen.

The single is ultimately about people who are extremely self-centred which we see a lot of in todays society, especially in the current climate of society at the moment. However, this makes the song extremely relatable to listeners.
