Throwback of the week (27th December)

Darts of Pleasure – Franz Ferdinand

Today I have the privilege of choosing a throwback of the week. So I chose an indie disco classic from Franz Ferdinand’s 2004 debut album… ‘Darts of Pleasure’.

Now I’ll be the first to admit I didn’t get into this band until a couple of years ago. I remember a friend playing me this song at a party and it made me delve deeper into their back catalogue

To start with the song is a generic indie song. Drums, a bass riff and loud guitars. However it’s Alex Kapranosunique voice that makes the song. It’s unlike anything I’d ever heard before or since.

It was one of the first Franz Ferdinand songs that put them on the map. Mainly for being so unique with its lyrical content, and German spoken word at the end.

I’ve played this song to many people and it has always gone down a treat even to those who aren’t fans of ‘indie’ or ‘alternative’ music.

Don’t take my word for it give it a listen below!
