Throwback of the week (8th November)

Magnolia Melancholia – Jamie T

As a birthday gift I’ve been tasked with this weeks throwback, and one song I can stop playing recently is Jamie T’s ‘Magnolia Meloncholia.’

Taken from Jamie’s 2015 EP, which takes a step back from his indie/hip hop roots, the more alternative, stripped back sound was a revelation for the artist, following on from his comeback album ‘Carry on the Grudge’.

If you’ve been following us for a while now, you’ll know Jamie T is an artist I endear highly, and although he will gain plaudits for his more well known hits like ‘Zombie’ and ‘Sticks n’ Stones’, ‘Magnolia Meloncholia’ shows us a different side to Jamie.

Telling the story of a boy fallen in love with a woman he can’t have, Jamie shows off more feelings than he ever had before, meanwhile keeping the lyrical prowess he has possessed his entire career.

Again, this is not one of his most known tracks, but if you listen (below) it will be one of your favourites!
