Lucigenic – Hope

Release Date – 19th February

Words: Fern Ritchie

Produced by Mike Bennett (The Fall/Ian Brown) ‘Hope’ is upbeat with beautiful vocals from singer Lucy Davies-Wyatt resonating a message of hope throughout and giving hints of Blondie and Bowie. The vocals are accompanied by a dreamy mix of bass and keys, from members Mark Woolfenden and Chris Toole along with strong guitar chords from Gary Wyatt which help to build up the powerful chorus.

Further contributions from those such as Simon Walstencroft (The Fall/Ian Brown), Dave Barbarossa (Adam and the Ants/Republica), Mark Refoy (Spiritualised/Spacemen 3), Steve Etherington (Rubettes/Sisters of Mercy) and Alan Keary are what gives them the “supergroup” status and it will certainly be interesting to see what more they have created together.

Released with a nostalgic video of the recording process at FarHeath studio in Northamptonshire, it is certainly one to check out if you wish an uplifting tune for your night and be sure to keep an eye out for their latest EP when it is released.
