RELEASE DATE – 16th July 2021
Words: Dan Smith
For fans of Jake Bugg and Sam Fender, Liverpudlian Lee Ford is showing incredible promise. With only two releases to date, both featuring on BBC Introducing, it is clear this young man is destined for greatness.
Rewriting the rulebook for a good indie song, Lee doesn’t focus on heartbreak and relationships, a recipe which propelled the likes of Catfish and the Bottlemen and Jake Bugg to greatness. Instead, his songs have a positive outlook on life and ‘Where It Begins’ is a prime example of this, although his debut single ‘My Best Friend‘ isn’t bad either!
His riffs are exciting, his vocals are electric and the song is enchanting. I found myself hitting the repeat button over and over when listening to this as it really does get stuck in your mind. Lyrically, the song is simple yet elegant, allowing the listener to reminisce on the ‘good ol’ days’.
If you’ve not heard of Lee Ford before, now you have; and believe me you best remember the name!
