To my dismay, my place of work plays Radio 1 all day, everyday. So that means 9.9 times out of 10, I want to blow my brains out at the relentless Tik Tok songs, the Adele spam and Ed Sheeran sh*te. The occasional Arctic Monkeys record, or Lily Allen throwback or Sam Fender banger are just about enough to keep my sanity.
However, over the past few days more and more Catfish and the Bottlemen has been played on primetime radio. To some of you, this may just be a coincidence, but for those who have any knowledge at all about how the Radio 1 playlisting works, you’ll know it means something indeed.
As I said, this does mean something, as Radio 1 would not continue to push out music from a band who are on the verge of splitting up. They are meticulous in their song choices, and a band such as Catfish and the Bottlemen who aren’t exactly A-list to be getting plays everyday, it can mean only one thing.
Well it can mean lots of things and maybe I’m just thinking into this too deeply, but, in my humble and educated opinion, it means one thing… we are on the verge of new music from The Bottlemen.
Furthermore, I believe the new music will be completely different from anything we have heard before from the Welsh rockers, taking them in a new direction compared to the previous three albums. Of course this is just speculation, and talk of Van McCann going solo after their pre-planned shows are over won’t go away.
But for me, I can’t see that happening and I think we could be weeks away, from new music by Catfish and the Bottlemen. Let’s hope my prediction is right, and let us know in the comments below whether you think they could be coming back!
