Released 4th February, Liam Gallagher has offered up his lasted solo track since his 2020 single ‘All You’re Dreaming Of’. Although it perhaps does not fulfil the desire for a chaotic, ostentatious song craved for by his bucket-hat-wearing, flare-lighting fans, ‘Everything’s Electric’ is undoubtedly the artist’s best solo track to date.
What is interesting about Gallagher is the extreme dichotomy between the music we expect and the music he produces. While his flamboyance and often eccentric attitude still gives an impression of the LG we knew from Oasis and Beady eye days, the reality is that the music he has released since his first debut solo-album ‘As You Were’ in 2017 has been reflective, melancholic and adventurous. And while Liam has always seemed eager to reunite with his former partner Noel Gallagher and relive his glory days, his music now is moving further away from those Oasis classics and becoming stronger on their own with each release.
Co-writtten with Foo Fighter’s lead-singer and guitarist Dave Grohl, the song was destined to be a hit. While the guitar-heavy verses reveal a little of that familiar LG snarl, the stripped back choruses are the star of this record and allow his vocals to flourish through a very persuasive, exciting melody. The choruses are powerful and very emotive.
The track is the first insight into the artist’s third solo album ‘C’mon You Know’. After a string of festival headlining slots last summer, this next album is set to be released ahead of Gallagher’s return to Knebworth Park in June, where this first single will likely make a stellar live debut. It is likely that we can expect more singles shortly in the run up to summer.
