In a press release, Foo Fighters announced their new record ‘But Here We Are’ alongside the release of their first single following the passing of Taylor Hawkins, ‘Rescued’.
‘But Here We Are’ is described as “the first chapter of the band’s new life” and “a brutally honest and emotionally raw response to everything the band endured over the last year” as “a testament to the healing powers of music, friendship and family”.
‘Rescued’ encapsulates the difficulties endured within the last year, with the opening lyrics emphasising this.
It came in a flash,
It came out of nowhere,
It happened so fast,
And then it was over

But despite all of this, the band have a renewed sound. Showing shades of their debut album and ‘The Could and the Shape’, ‘Rescued’ revives the emotive rock merged with Dave Grohls ever-present husky vocals.
Using the pain and sorrow to bring about a new era is a challenge to the best of us, but after 25+ years together as a unit, Foo Fighters are not ready to bow out just yet.
“Without Taylor, we never would have become the band that we were – and without Taylor, we know that we’re going to be a different band going forward.”

‘Rescued’ is a song of hope. A reflection on the past and a statement on the pain present within the band.
Ultimately, ‘Rescued’ is an emotional rollercoaster that combines 25 years of writing music into one powerful piece and is the perfect comeback song for the rockers with nothing left to prove.
