‘You Don’t Get It’ is the new single to come from Megan Wyn, 18-year-old singer/songwriter from Anglesey.
She is already making a name for herself, being touted for ‘a big future’ by This Feeling, and this new single reinforces that fact!
What I love about her writing style, is its delicate simplicity. You find a lot of artists nowadays may compensate for poor writing through use of big words or metaphors that don’t really mean anything, but with a brilliant voice and a catchy chorus, you don’t need all the bells and whistles.
Cause I’ve been going up, down, all around
Tryna find my way out this town
Megan Wyn – You Don’t Get It
‘You Don’t Get It’ is a coming of age tune singing about that old adage of getting out of this dead end town, and the people around you just don’t get it. What I like about this song though, is the fresh approach to a saturated topic. We’ve heard many songs with a similar message, but the feeling behind this one is different.
Not only is it catchy and memorable, it is strangely emotional. The bridge before the final chorus strips back the song, before the big finish and after that, trust me, you’ll need to listen again!
In an industry and genre predominantly male, women can often find it hard to make their mark on proceedings. However, as we have seen with the likes of Amy Winehouse, Wolf Alice and Black Honey, talent will often prevail and in the case of Megan Wyn, she is a talent destined for greatness.
I remember saying to one of my friends shortly after ‘Polaroid’ was released a couple of years ago to keep an eye on Megan, as she is certainly going to be one of those artists you’ll be seeing on the headline stages before long.
‘You Don’t Get It’ is out now and you can find the song below!
