“Western Approaches” by Red Rum Club is a shorter but truly incredible album with infectious melodies. The Liverpool-based band’s fourth album dropped on Friday and, with their upcoming UK and US tour and their biggest concert to date at the M&S Bank Arena on the 5th April, the band are looking to hit a top 10 chart spot.
The opening track ‘Western Approaches’ is a morse code track which leads seamlessly into one of the biggest singles dropped before the album ‘Godless’ – a fan favourite at many of their gigs.
The band have received great reviews at the moment to ‘Daisy’ which comes across as a Beatles sounding track with the added bonus of a trumpet. There has been a running theme of a girl’s name within the albums past that have all been brilliant so no shock this is an absolute banger.
With a more different sound to any band in the industry at the moment, “Joe the Blow” on trumpet brings a unique and electrifying sound, defying conventional expectations that seems to hook fans.
Following the band for many years myself I would argue that this is their best album and production yet and i’m truly excited to see how the crowds react to their new songs live.
I attended the Western Approaches album launch party last night where Red Rum Club played a few new songs that had a great reception so I am very much looking forward to the upcoming tour and seeing how well the boys can chart.
You can buy a copy of the album through iTunes or the Red Rum Club website now.
