‘Warning Signs’ by Tom Collins Review.

Words: Rachel Moorhead.

In need of a new indie banger to blast through your car speakers this summer? Look no further because Tom Collins is here with his massive new track ‘Warning Signs’.

The song opens with some funky indie guitar riffs before the track fades down for the opening verse.

‘Going round in circles
Because of what you said
I’m stuck in the struggle
But you’re stuck in my head’

I love the quiet, echoey effect on this verse suggesting a flashback reflecting on a relationship and realising that perhaps the ‘warning signs’ were there from the very start.

As much as I can imagine the excitement this song would bring to a gig with its pulsing rhythm, for me I want to blast this song in my car at full volume with the windows down singing along with my friends. For anyone going through a breakup this song is going to be that song that gets you and validates all your feelings. It’s the track that picks you up and helps you to realise how much better off you’ll be without them.

I’ll be honest I hadn’t heard of Tom before being sent this single to review but safe to say I’m definitely a fan now.

Tom’s music gives a mix of Sam Fender, Jamie Webster and Catfish and the Bottlemen with a pop flavour to his indie rock singalong anthems.

Overall, ‘Warning Signs’ with its heart on sleeve song writing and catchy blend of music is sure to be a massive hit. Despite the song being about a relationship breakdown the upbeat instrumental provides the listener with a feel-good track sure to keep them coming back for more.
