Words: Dan Smith
I am seriously contemplating moving to Australia at this point, the music scene is so, so good and today I discovered another absolute gem. Now, I’m not saying I discovered them, they have nearly 200,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, no I discovered them for myself after hearing them for the first time today.
Their single ‘Did The Morning Let You Down’ came on my autoplay and I thought to myself, “well, isn’t this a bloody good song” and to be honest with you, I’ve probably listened to this song more times than I’d care to admit.
The band just have such a lovely sound to them. Frontman and vocalist Benny McIntyre has the ability to produce a bizarre blend of high-pitched, delicate tones but also a grungy, deeper vocal which demonstrates his ability as a singer. The range is something utilised in this single and as I begin to go through their back catalogue I’m sure it will feature again and again.
This is the sort of music I’d love to have on with the boys. We’ve had a BBQ or just chilling by the fire, a few brews in hand whilst listening to Rum Jungle. Now that sounds like a plan.
