Yet Another Beautifully Composed Tune: Blossoms – What Can I Say After I’m Sorry Review.

Words: Keira Knox

Blossoms have returned, stronger than ever, with their brand-new single ‘What Can I
Say After I’m Sorry?’ Produced by J Lloyd of Jungle and longtime Blossoms
collaborator James Skelly of The Coral, the track is accompanied by an amazing
new video featuring Everton manager Sean Dyche, which was filmed by Ewan
Ogden with assistance from Blossoms lead singer, Tom Ogden.

For the guys who have perfected their 80s-inspired indie formula over the past ten
years, it represents a slight artistic shift, but it’s still incredibly catchy and distinctly a Blossoms track. The repetitive nature of the lyrics is sure to have the tune
ingrained in our minds.

Regardless of how amazing this single is, the big conversation starter since the
song’s release has been the equally amazing music video. To be honest, we never
thought a crossover between Blossoms and Everton manager, Sean Dyche would
occur this year, but hey, no one’s complaining.

Before heading across the moors to steal “Gary the Gorilla,” an eight-foot fibreglass
gorilla that was seized from a garden centre last year, Blossoms receive a slightly
intimidating team talk from Everton Football Club manager Sean Dyche in the
opening scene of the video, which takes place in a stunning mid-century home.

Speaking to BBC Radio Merseyside about his feature in the music video Sean
Dyche said that he was ‘pleased it’s got some positive reception…. It’s a good tune
as well which is helpful! For somebody who is a big music fan and gig fan, to be
asked to be in it was very pleasing and good bit of fun!’

No matter how amazing the music video is, the single is still just as phenomenal.
Blossoms have created yet another beautifully composed tune that is definitely worth
listening to. It’s set to be their second single from their fifth studio album following the
release of ‘To Do List (After The Breakup)’ last year.

Blossoms are set to make a headline appearance at Wythenshawe Park in
Manchester on August 25th, with support from the likes of Inhaler, The K’s, Seb
Lowe, Shed Seven and many more. Among the other live shows coming up later this
year are Isle Of Wight Festival in June and TRNSMT on Glasgow Green in July.
