Evocative And Comforting: The Dominos – Tossing And Turning Baby Review.

Words: Keira Knox

Following the increasing popularity of their singles ‘Black and White’ and ‘Stalker
Song,’ Scunthorpe 5 piece, The Dominos, are set to release their latest track,
‘Tossing and Turning Baby,’ on June 7th . The single is set to be the band’s first
release following the addition of Jamie Sarjantson on keys and guitar, offering a
much more alternative dynamic to their sound. This song is evidence of the
outstanding talent and diligence of this up-and-coming band, who have worked
nonstop since their formation in 2021.

From Hull at The Adelphi Club to Sheffield at West Street Live and Network for
Tramlines Fringe, The Dominos have performed all throughout the region. With
supporting roles alongside Vivas and The Outcharms, they have also had the
chance to build their following and demonstrate their raw live talent on a larger
platform.

In contrast to earlier songs like ‘Pretty Girls’ and ‘Stalker Song,’ ‘Tossing and Turning Baby’ is a masterfully composed creation that offers a much slower and softer melody. This song with its themes of restless nights, has the feel of a lullaby, it is calming and light in its nature. James Danby’s comforting vocals, together with the song’s deep bass lines and gentler piano tones, combine to make this track utterly beautiful.

The song’s finale, with its pulsing drum rhythm and jangly guitar chords, is
reminiscent of one of Arctic Monkeys’ most underappreciated songs, ‘That’s Where
You’re Wrong.’ The track’s softer melodies are also evocative of The Academic’s
infamous track, ‘Girlfriends.’ This song is perfect for lovers of softer indie-rock and
indie-pop!

We have no doubt that this song will give this band a tonne of opportunities, and we
are eager for its official release! In an effort to grow their fan base even more, The
Dominos plan to headline more of their own shows in 2024 as well as having the
chance to open for some larger acts. With the prospect of releasing even more new
songs, 2024 is expected to be a significant year for the band! For fans of The
Academic, Arctic Monkeys, The Lathums and Royel Otis, The Dominos are a band
for you!

Stream ‘Tossing And Turning Baby’ on the 7th June!
