With the release of her sophomore album ‘Crazymad, For Me,’ Irish singer-
songwriter CMAT is continuing her upward trajectory into the music industry with the
debut of her incredible new single, ‘Aw, Shoot!’ Her fame in Ireland has risen thanks
to the album, which has also attracted interest from listeners in the UK and the
United States as well. On Tuesday night, the single had its debut as a ‘Hottest
Record’ on BBC Radio 1’s New Music Show with Jack Saunders.
‘Aw, Shoot!’ is a captivating country hit that combines introspection with light-hearted
references to the Netflix TV show ‘Emily in Paris,’ according to CMAT. The song’s
inspiration came from a chance encounter she had while alone and savouring local
wine in Paris, which gave rise to the song’s composition.
The new single showcases CMAT’s bold and brilliant voice that enable her to create
the perfect blend of pop, country, and a touch of humour and whimsy. CMAT has
proven time and time again that she is the country queen of this generation (or as
she describes ‘a sad country song of a woman’), and the masterfully composed ‘Aw
Shoot!’ only serves to further solidify her position. This track is a certified country bop.
CMAT is expected to release even more new music, and I for one am quite excited
about it! A number of scheduled tour dates and festival appearances mean that 2024
will be another outstanding year for fans of CMAT!
