Words: Dan Smith
Before 2024 started, I had never even heard of Dayglow. The 24 year old American released his debut album ‘Fuzzy Glow’ back in 2018, and a piece of luck had me stumble across his song ‘Can I Call You Tonight’ earlier this year, and since then I have gone into the back catalog of the Texan and been incredibly impressed.
His blasé and nonchalant writing style is incredibly laid back and makes for a thoroughly enjoyable listening experience, allowing you to just indulge yourself in the music, and this is exactly what Dayglow wants.
On his new track, he said “I hope to make songs that help people self-reflect and become nicer, because I surely always need to. They can totally just dance to the song too, though. It’s pretty damn catchy.”
He’s not wrong on that last part either. With an incredibly upbeat, toe-tapping drum beat throughout, the song just puts a smile on your face and makes you want to move your body. The guitar tones are just what you’d expect from an indie-dance tune. A lovely solo towards the backend of the song continues into the outro and leaves needing to hit that replay button.
This is just a feel good anthem for people to reflect on themselves and to ultimately stop taking ourselves too seriously.
