The new track ‘Child of Athena’ by Manchester group Doublethink appeals to the
distinctive sound of the 1960s and 1970s-era; the song has an almost Don Mclean
and Bob Dylan vibe to it with its vintage guitar riffs and instrumentals. Stepping back
into the 1960s and 1970s is almost consoling in a world when the popular music is
mostly either sweet pop hits or thunderous beats. It is a comforting and nostalgic
track and with its arrival just in time for summer, it is sure to become a summertime
favourite.
The Manchester quartet draws inspiration from classic acts like The Beatles, David
Bowie, and The Kinks, blending it with a more alternative sound reminiscent of Blur
and Radiohead’s 90s sound. The band has now released ‘Child of Athena’ as their
fourth single; they have already gained a sizable fan base, with over 22,000 streams
on their previous release.
‘Child of Athena’ is guaranteed to get you up on your feet. The stunning harmonies
and upbeat melodies make this track a surefire hit. Distinctly reminiscent of
tracks from The Beatles most iconic album, “Abbey Road”, this new tune is certainly going to appealing to a wide audience. The upbeat harmonica tones combined with the ethereal guitar chords are nothing short of extraordinary. The band’s obvious passion and effort are evident in this song.
This tune is a lively indie track with a country influence that is perfect for summer.
‘Child of Athena’ captures the essence of breezy summer days spent resting in a
field with the wind blowing through your hair. 2024 is set to have the summer of a
lifetime and ‘Child of Athena’ aptly captures our excitement, it is destined to be the
soundtrack of the summer.
For Manchester based music-lovers, Doublethink is set to perform a headline show
