The 24-year-old, Stevie Bill offers a distinctive fusion of influences to the music industry. Her most recent release, “Girl,” is a track that will resonate with girls everywhere as it explores the trials and tribulations of girlhood. Stevie was initially influenced by R&B singers from the 1990s like Toni Braxton and Destiny’s Child. She also owes a lot to female pop artists from the 2000s like Britney Spears and Avril Lavigne. The songs she writes resonate with her peers for the way they communicate tales of ambition, tumultuous relationships, and what it is like to make mistakes when you are young.
Fresh off playing significant supporting roles for rising indie sensation Nieve Ella during her UK tour and for Aidan Bissett with his US tour. With her new song “Girl,” Stevie Bill is demonstrating that she is a force to be reckoned with in this industry.
This track is a feminist anthem. Gently illustrating the highs and lows of being a woman in society while putting beautiful melodies and voices front and centre. She has a flair for song writing; poignant and emotive lyrics weaved throughout this masterfully composed track, “I put makeup on my face, to make him think I’m sane.” Stevie conveys the pressure forced upon women in society to conform to stereotypical beauty standards; it is a defining track that will be relatable to thousands.
It’s girlhood personified, raw emotion bursting out of every corner of this track. The delicate, fanciful vocals of Stevie Bill only serve to highlight the intensity of emotion woven throughout this song. She has truly created a defining anthem for young women across the globe; it is empowering and moving. The catchy melodies of “Girl,” along with the energetic guitar riffs and groovy bass lines, are guaranteed to keep you dancing despite the track’s deep emotions.
The release of ‘Girl’ follows some incredibly significant announcements for the singer. At BST at Hyde Park, Stevie Bill will open for Fleetwood Mac superstar Stevie Nicks. This October, Stevie will also make her debut performance at Manchester’s Neighbourhood Festival. I am excited to watch what Stevie Bill does next; it is going to be an interesting year for her.
