In the midst of his massive US tour promoting his most recent album ‘Unreal Unearth’, Irish musician Hozier is stopping off in London this Sunday for a massive, sold out gig in Finsbury Park, and it is set to be a brilliant event.
Hozier is joined by the enigmatic Brittany Howard, Lord Huron and Ye Vagabonds, all of which are guaranteed to impress crowds with their unique sounds, but, if you haven’t already heard of these artists, let this article be an introduction for you.
Brittany Howard is an American musician and a member of the iconic band Alabama Shakes. Known mainly for her rich, soulful vocals and incredible songwriting skills, Howard is sure to transport the Finsbury crowds to another plane of existence, full of positive energy and good vibes. Make sure to be fully present during her set, as it is bound to be life changing.
Ye Vagabonds are an Irish duo who have been said to be at ‘the fore of a new wave of Irish Folk music’. Bringing a piece of home to Hozier’s stacked line up, the Carlow based brothers are sure to open crowds up to the possibility of Irish folk music existing in mainstream media, with their refreshing take on the genre, including a collaborative song with Boy Genius in memory of the Irish legend Sinead O’Connor. Prepare to be swept off your feet by this duo, as they carry you to Carlow with their authentic, lilting voices and masterful playing of traditional folk instruments.
Hozier’s final opener is the phenomenal Lord Huron, who skyrocketed to fame when his tune ‘The Night We Met’ featured on Netflix’s smash hit series ‘Thirteen Reasons Why.’ Yet, while this song is his most famous, Lord Huron has a plethora of incredible, heartfelt tunes that are sure to tickle the fancy of Hozier fans.
While Hozier himself is without a doubt going to put on a fantastic set full of his most popular and most meaningful songs, it is clear that there has been much thought into the audience’s experience of the entire day, making sure that every element is perfectly suited to their tastes. It is evident that Hozier has perfectly curated his supporting acts, as all of them perfectly represent elements of his own music: what with Howard’s clever songwriting that incorporates politics and personal experience into music, Ye Vagabonds’ love of their birth place and Lord Huron’s emotional ballads that share insight into human feelings such as love and loss.
In short, anyone attending the gig on Sunday is in for an absolute treat, as it is sure to be an event full of joy, tears, laughter and more.
While you wait, stream Hozier below!
