The Unequivocally talented Wigan four piece ‘Casino Club’ have released their long awaited debut EP, ‘Now You Want It’ and it is an instant hit.
Glittering with musical talent, each track on the 5 track EP is electrifying, all unique in their own ways, but sharing one common factor: the band’s signature blend of infectious melodies and poignant lyricism.
Kicking off the EP is the tune ‘Stuck On You’, a punchy opening that really defines Casino Club’s sound. With in your face vocals, grooving rhythms and catchy guitar riffs akin to bands such as Catfish and The Bottlemen and The Ks,’Stuck on You’ is a perfect opening to a debut EP, as not only does its technical execution set a tone of professionalism that is carried throughout the rest of the tunes, but its upbeat melodies creates a positive atmosphere that just forces audiences to carry on listening.
A personal favourite of mine on the EP has to be ‘It Won’t Last Forever’. Opening with a pulsating bass riff similar to the stylings of the early Arctic Monkeys bassist Nick O’Malley, this song is one you can’t help but stomp your feet to. This feeling is exacerbated in the chorus, which is full of catchy lyrics and intense crashings of drums that you could see yourself really jumping around to. I particularly love how the vocals are layered in the chorus, as it really heightens the energy of the song, making it a perfect floor filler for a concert.
Another highlight on the EP is ‘Walk Away’, the final song in the collection. Offering a change of pace to the rest of the extremely high energy tunes, ‘Walk Away’ is an emotionally wrought ballad. Making a conscious decision to utilise guitars, including an emotional solo from guitarist Alex Porter. This, combined with heartfelt lyrics and authentically raw vocals, the band are able to create an intensity that permeates the song, making it a perfect ending for the EP, as it really does stick with you.
If we’re going by this EP alone, it is obvious that this up and coming four piece from Wigan really has what it takes to take the industry by storm, and the proof really is in the pudding. With plenty of gigs coming their way later this year, including a sold out show at The Jacaranda in Liverpool, it is clear that Casino Club have a bright future ahead of them.
