As a warm up to the release of their highly anticipated EP ‘Tales of the Damned’ which is dropping in October of this year, West Yorkshire four piece Wolforna have released their brand new single ‘Your Tongue My Teeth’ today, and it is an absolute anthem!
Inspired by bands such as Deftones and Queens of The Stone Age, all of Wolforna’s music contains their signature blend of fierce riffs, thunderous drums and melodic vocals, and ‘Your Tongue My Teeth’ is no exception.
One thing Wolforna does not do is subtlety. As if like a sneak attack, the tune opens suddenly and punchily, laden with heart thumping drum rhythms and bone shattering guitar riffs. But what really peaked my interest was the intriguing stylisation on lead singer Jack Crabtree’s vocals. Strangely acidic and piercing, his vocals combined with the musical intensity delivered from the drums, bass and guitar creates an unsettling ambiance that permeates the entirety of the tune. Yet, while it is eerie and ever so slightly unnerving, these elements aren’t offputting in the slightest, in fact it’s quite the opposite. I honestly think I’ve had ‘Your Tongue My Teeth’ on repeat for days now, while the song itself is extremely high energy, there is something so entrancing about it that I just can’t seem to get enough. Taking inspiration from Stephen King’s seminal novel ‘Salem’s Lot’, this song is a small opening part of the concept narrative of their upcoming EP ‘Tales of The Damned’ and, if this song is any marker of what the rest of the EP will be like, then we’re definitely in for a treat!
If you’re looking for a tune that’s bound to get your heart racing and your mind glazing over, then you HAVE to listen to ‘Your Tongue My Teeth’.
