Back in July 2023, you may recall a show The 1975 performed in Malaysia in which frontman Matty Healy kissed bassist Ross MacDonald on stage, leading them to cancel the remainder of the Asia leg of their tour.
Almost one year on, the organisers of a festival in Kuala Lumpur are suing The 1975 for damages worth £1.9m.
As well as the kiss, Matty Healy attacked Malaysia’s anti-LGBT laws, leading to the event being cancelled.
Homosexual acts are illegal in Malaysia and punishable by 20 years in prison. The festival does not allow talking about politics and religion, swearing, smoking or drinking on stage.
What do you make of the fiasco?
