Powerhouse James Bay has struck again with another bop. His new song, ‘Up All Night’, features other indie folk legends The Lumineers and Noah Kahan, and explores the anxieties that keep us up at night and overcoming them to enjoy and live life.
This song feels like a perfect summer night with amazingly strong instrumentals, being the backbone of The Lumineers and contemplative lyrics reminding us of Noah Kahan. James Bay has managed to combine all the things we love from each artist whilst also holding his unique sound within the track; it is unmistakably a James Bay song, however, it also presents the strengths of the other artists included on the track.
This refreshing new track combines the best parts of these artists to make a catchy if not sometimes repetitive song. Similar to songs like ‘Revival’ by Zach Bryan and ‘If You Ever Want To Be In Love’ by James Bay. ‘Up All Night’ is an infectious blend of soulful vocals and vibrant instrumentals that captivate the listener from the first note. The song’s energetic rhythm and uplifting melody create an irresistible urge to tap your feet and sing along. Bay’s raw and emotive delivery infuses the track with an authentic passion that resonates deeply. The lyrics paint a vivid picture of youthful exuberance and staying up late into the night worrying about the future and why these anxieties create insomniacs out of us, evoking a sense of freedom and carefree joy.
Overall this track is a new late night summer anthem, it’s a picnic with friends, a bonfire to end a perfect day! And it promises amazing things for the new album (out 20th September) ‘Changes All The Time’ with co-writers such as The Killers’ Brandon Flowers and Holly Humberstone, this is proving to be a revival of 2010s folk/rock. ‘Up All Night’ is a refreshing addition to Bay’s repertoire, showcasing his versatility and artistry as a musician. This anthemic tune is bound to be a crowd-pleaser and a possible new highlight of his discography.
