The Divisions, a London four-piece, expertly combine a wide range of sounds and inspirations to create something genuinely distinctive, and their new single ‘Middle Ground’ is sure to send them skyrocketing to indie glory.
The band’s debut EP, due out on Friday, August 2, will feature the single ‘Middle Ground’ as its title. The Divisions are at a pivotal juncture in their career, and their explosive rock ‘n’ roll hit ‘Middle Ground’ has the potential to alter the course of their rise to fame.
The Divisions’ ‘Middle Ground’ fuses the gritty touch of 00s indie rock with the upbeat feelings of 90s Britpop. characterised by an explosive, quick-paced riff and an infectious tone that veers between melodic indie and high-energy rock. The riff-heavy start to the tune is modelled after the renowned solo from Jimi Hendrix’s ‘All Along the Watchtower.’
The instrumentals on this track are out of this world, injecting a burning sense of passion through powerful guitar riffs, and paired alongside the rugged vocals, ‘Middle Ground’ is the perfect blend of indie and punk with a sprinkle of 90s Britpop. Thrashing drum rhythms only help to amplify this already potent sound, bringing the tune down to earth and adding a vengeance feeling.
With this single, The Divisions have raised the bar quite high for the release of their debut EP. An iconic piece of indie rock music. It should come as no surprise when listening to this track that this EP is tipped to be one of the greatest releases of the year.
