With their brand-new single, ‘The Patch Where Nothing Grows,’ The Royston Club have returned to the music scene. The Royston Club is rapidly ascending to the pinnacle of indie-rock. Following their debut record ‘Shaking Hips and Crashing Cars,’ which reached the top 20 on the UK Official Album Chart, the Welsh foursome have gone from strength to strength, selling out KOKO, playing three sets at Glastonbury to thousands, and headlining the largest show to ever take place in their hometown of Wrexham.
With a high degree of confidence, The Royston Club raises their musical standards in ‘The Patch Where Nothing Grows,’ striking the perfect balance between catchy melodies, jagged guitars, and high-pitched hooks. Tom Faithful, the lead singer, has the ideal track to highlight his vocals. His vocals are destined for this track, rising, and falling from soft delicate whispers to gritty rugged vocals in the chorus.
It’s a thoughtful and candid track. It’s an expression of love to the person you’re falling for. The story revolves around that stage of love when you want to spend every moment of the day and night with your partner but are ultimately unsure of the direction the relationship is headed.
I’m becoming increasingly enamoured with the Royston Club’s musical prowess with each release, both in instrumental and vocal performances. The track ‘The Patch Where Nothing Grows’ perfectly encapsulates the spirit of indie music with its energetic, fast-paced guitar lines, scratchy vocals, and perhaps The Strokes-like vibe. The Royston Club never miss with their tracks, creating something extraordinary each time.
The track marks a continued busy summer schedule for the Welsh band; headline sets at This Feeling By The Sea and The Gathering Sounds as well as a special Malta Weekender as guests to the iconic Liam Gallagher. They have also added a second night at the O2 Academy Liverpool following a quick sell out for the first night.
