In the last seven days, so much has transpired that it’s difficult to process! From reunions, to festivals, to album releases and so much more! As I do my best to fit this week’s music news into the column, get ready for a jam-packed edition of ‘Tune In’!
‘This is it, this is happening’ – Oasis Confirm UK and Ireland 2025 Tour
We have to start with the big one don’t we? The Gallagher brothers have finally put their differences aside (for the time being) after 15 years and are planning to reunite the legendary band for a tour in 2025. The news comes after a series of enticing tweets from Liam, along with sneak peeks at Wythenshawe Park and Reading Festival.
However, contrary to weekend rumours, they will not be performing as the headliners of Glastonbury festival, nor will they be doing ten performances at Wembley and the Etihad Stadium, respectively. Rather, stadiums in Cardiff, London, Manchester, Edinburgh, and Dublin will host the performances in July and August. On August 31, at 9 a.m., tickets will go on sale; the cost will be disclosed that day.
Knocking It Out Of The (Wythenshawe) Park : Blossoms Biggest Headline Show
This past Sunday, Stockport’s very own Blossoms graced the stage at Wythenshawe Park, performing for their largest-attending headline audience to date. What a show it was, with special appearances from Findlay and of course Gary! Blossoms’ performance included tracks from their early career to their most recent single, ‘Perfect Me,’and they absolutely killed it.
It was honestly one the best gigs I’ve been to, and that’s coming from a girl who’s been to a lot! Warming up the crowd for the main event were a number of amazing bands, such as Inhaler, Shed Seven, The K’s, Seb Lowe, TTRRUUCES, and The Guest List!
Full review of the gig is incoming on the website!
Reading & Leeds : The Battle Against Storm Lillian
Imagine yourself leaving the house at the crack of dawn on a Friday morning and travelling for three hours to Leeds. Your senses are being overwhelmed with excitement as you eagerly await the performance of artists like The Luka State, Corella, Alfie Templeman, Beabadoobee, and many more! All for them to be cancelled due to extreme weather conditions. That was my Friday morning.
Reading didn’t have it any easier, with Sunday’s sets appearing to be an absolute shambles! American superstar Renee Rapp had her set cut short due to technical difficulties, leaving travelling fans less than pleased. Despite Catfish & The Bottlemen’s instruments and sound being turned off, Van McCann, being the amazing frontman that he is, didn’t let that stop him from leading the large crowd in a sing-along of ‘Cocoon’ while the problems were being rectified.
Let’s hope we don’t have to fight off any storms next year!
The Battle For No.1 : Romance or Short n’ Sweet
Name me a more historic battle than the battle for No.1…… I’ll wait. The eagerly awaited fourth album ‘Romance’ by the Irish post punk band Fontaines D.C. has now been released to tremendous acclaim. Unfortunately, they haven’t had an easy time getting to the top of the charts; right now, they’re competing against Pop Princess Sabrina Carpenter and her hoard of loyal admirers.
Both are more than deserving of the top spot; working tirelessly over the past few years to create something equally extraordinary! However, my loyalties will always lie with Fontaine’s, so if I can do my bit to help them get to No.1 then so can you!
My full review of ‘Romance’ is up now on the website so go and check it out!
What Have I Been Listening To This Week?
The Disco – TTRRUUCES : I fell in love with this band on Sunday. I was engrossed in “The Disco”; Findlay’s stage persona is captivating. I adore how, live, they included iconic disco music from the 1970s into the song. Listen to this track, if you take nothing else away from this piece.
Irish Goodbye – Heavy Weather : Who doesn’t like supporting upcoming talents? It’s an indie rock song, a mesmerising symphony of light guitar riffs and gritty vocals over a driving rhythm section. If you enjoy Jeff Buckley, Radiohead, and Fontaines D.C., you should add ‘Irish Goodbye’ to your playlist!
Safe From Heartbreak (if you never fall in love) – Wolf Alice : This captivating song, the fifth on their third album ‘Blue Weekend,’ is one of its highlights. It offers a unique perspective on love and relationships. We all adore ‘Don’t Delete The Kisses,’ but in my opinion, this song is just as good.
Listen Up – Oasis : Everyone has a song that they can’t get enough of, and “Listen Up” is the song for me. I am convinced that LG offers one of his best vocal performances ever on ‘Listen Up’; he truly offers it everything he has. What are you doing if you don’t have this on your playlist?
British Bombs – Declan McKenna : An excellent illustration of a protest anthem is this song. Declan McKenna put his entire being into this tune, which perfectly encapsulates the symphonic and lyrical aspects of his work.
Listen to our playlist here! See you next week!
