Hey all you lovely lot! Welcome back to another edition of ‘Tune In’! Have you managed to keep up with amount of music news this week? No? Then don’t worry, that’s what I’m here for! So kick back and relax as I take you through everything worth knowing about the music industry right now!
Wunderhorse Drop The Album Of The Century : ‘Midas’
Wunderhorse’s approach to recording their second album makes sense in every way given their excellent live reputation: the four-piece wrote and recorded as a unit, raw and ready, with minimal overdubbing, after transitioning from Jacob Slater’s solo project to a full-fledged band. The raw, emotional record ‘Midas’ is dependent on its performance. Unlike their debut album ‘Cub,’ which although its incredible in its own right. felt as though an indie band were trying to create powerful rock anthems, whereas with ‘Midas’ this band sounds like a legitimate rock group with a taste for indie classics.
‘Midas’ is a benchmark for what a great band can accomplish due to how it combines the thrill and vigour of a debut album with the maturity and moderation that come with experience. If anything go and listen to ‘Aeroplane’, its phenomenal!
The Shambles That Is Ticketmaster
The war against Ticketmaster continues, dampening all our hope of having a lovely Saturday morning celebrating securing those all important Oasis tickets. Fans were forced to pay more than twice as much for tickets to attend Oasis’s reunion, which has caused a massive backlash against both Ticketmaster and the rock band. In a terrible turn of events, ‘in demand’ standard tickets on Ticketmaster more than doubled in price, from £148 to £355.
As a lifelong admirer of this legendary band, I waited in queue for more than eight hours, hoping and praying that my turn would come. It did. Then all hopes were crushed by the extortionate raised prices that I simply can not afford as an 18 year old student.
Charli XCX Says Goodbye to Her Iconic ‘Brat’ Summer
As Brat summer comes to an end, Charli XCX is getting ready for the Sweat tour in the autumn! Charli XCX said goodbye to Summer 2024 on Monday. The pop record that embodied the colour chartreuse served as the musical benchmark for the season. ‘Goodbye forever brat summer,’ Charli wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Major remixes of a number of the album’s tracks, such as the Lorde and Charli remix of ‘Girl, So Confusing’ and the Billie Eilish version of ‘Guess,’ as well as an expanded edition of the album titled ‘Brat and It’s the Same but There’s Three More Songs So It’s Not,’ helped Charli further increase the album’s effect. Her song ‘Apple’ from the album also inspired a TikTok dance trend, sending everyone into a frenzy.
Goodbye Brat summer, you’ll be sorely missed!

What Have I Been Listening To This Week?
White Privilege – Sam Fender : In his songs, Sam Fender certainly doesn’t beat around the bush. I think that a lot of his lyrics don’t shroud things in metaphor. He’s open and honest within his music. It’s a politically charged track that demands all of your attention.
Too Good For Giving Up – Liam Gallagher : It’s a track that I connect with quite deeply. Taken from his third solo album, ‘Too Good For Giving Up’ is a emotional, motivating ballad that suits Gallagher’s vocals perfectly. It’s heartfelt and unapologetic.
Slight Return – The Bluetones : The revival of the 90s indie scene following Oasis’ revival has been huge. However, I want to draw your attention to this track that seems to have slipped under the radar in this whirlwind. It’s infectious energy will have you screaming the lyrics, Britpop fans sink your teeth into this one if you don’t already know it!
Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow? – Amy Winehouse : Amy’s cover of The Shirelles’ classic track is simply outstanding, combining her distinctive vocals with the creativity of the original release.
Renegade – Thin Lizzy : Distinct from their previous work. More poetic but less anthemic. I’m transported back in time and forced to consider my present and future when listening to the track.
See you next week, in the meantime go and check out our playlist!
