Battling The Elements, They Still Prevailed: Catfish and The Bottlemen At Reading Festival Review.

Words: Ben Kelly

After making their long-awaited return this year, it was time for Catfish and The Bottlemen to play what was their first announcement of the reunion, Reading and Leeds.

Unfortunately, due to circumstances out of their control, their set didn’t start off in the way they would’ve wanted it to, on their second song of the set ‘Kathleen’ there were some problems with the guitar sound system. This didn’t stop lead singer Van Mccan, as he continued to go on with an accapella rendition of one of their biggest hits ‘Cocoon’. After this, the band were ushered off of stage to fix the sound problems. In what felt like the longest wait ever the band were then back on stage after about 10 minutes to carry on the rest of the set.

After finishing off from where they left on with ‘Kathleen’, despite the frustration of the
technical issues, they didn’t let it get to them and continued to put on a great show.
The set was full of all their biggest hits, creating a great atmosphere both on stage and within the crowd.

I think this summer has shown the boys are still very capable of putting on an outstanding performance. This was also a very good preparation ahead of their recently announced stadium shows at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London and The Principality Stadium, Cardiff next August. Will you be attending either of these shows next year ?
