As we enter a new season, Red Eye Pariah are dragging the dregs of a summer of optimism with them in order to light a way through the colder months with their brand new tune ‘So Long’. Hailing from Antrim in the North of Ireland, this band is really making a name for themselves as one of the top music acts to watch this year, and ‘So Long’ perfectly proves why.
Full of light hearted riffs from guitarist Sammy, thumping bass and drum rhythms from Alex and Joe, and of course frontman Deano’s captivatingly unique and soaring vocals, ‘So Long’ is just one of those tunes that keeps you smiling from start to finish. What I absolutely love about this band is how refreshingly different they are, not just in sound, but also in attitude. Musically, they are incomparable to anyone else on the scene at the moment, it is clear that these boys have worked hard to hone their craft, and forge their own path in the music industry by creating a crisp, professional sound that still carries a sort of punkish edge that really makes them stand out from the crowd. But what is particularly refreshing is that they don’t take themselves too seriously. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying they slack off, this band works hard and the proof is in the audio pudding, what I mean is that they aren’t afraid to show their true personalities and get a little silly. This is really clear in the music video that accompanies ‘So Long.’
What essentially feels like a bloopers reel, Red Eye Pariah presented us fans with a music video to accompany the brand new tune that solely consists of the four band members chasing after one another through the woods, ending with them all covered in paint and singing their hearts out to the final refrain – it’s clear that these boys truly are just a bunch of mates who happen to create great music, rather than being purely professional acquaintances. The light hearted, almost comedic vibes that permeate both the song and the video perfectly summarise the band’s character, as well set an uplifting tone for what are usually the dreariest months of the year.
If you haven’t already heard ‘So Long’, what are you doing?! Pop your headphones on and give it a wee listen, you will NOT be disappointed.
