Tune In With Keira : 2nd October 2024

Happy ‘Tune In’ Wednesday everyone! Now the past 7 days have been filled with tour announcements, everywhere you look someone is set to embark on a headline tour! In the mix of that we’ve had EP, Album and plenty of single releases! So sit back and relax as I take you through what has caught my eye this week.

Bruce Springsteen extends 2025 tour with dates in Manchester and Liverpool

Bruce Springsteen’s 2025 tour across the UK and Europe now includes more dates, among them new shows in Manchester and Liverpool. The Boss closed up a string of live performances across the nation earlier this year, including two performances at London’s Wembley Stadium over the summer. The announcement of fresh tour dates follows shortly after.

The tour will now begin on May 17th with a show at the brand-new Co-op Live Arena. Two extra performances in Manchester have been added to the planned tour dates. On May 20th, there will be another performance at the same location.

I’m holding out hope for a Sam Fender support slot!

Wunderhorse announce massive one-off show at Alexandra Palace

Indie legends Wunderhorse revealed this week that their largest headline performance to date will take place on May 29 at the 10,250-seat Alexandra Palace. Just one month after the band released their eagerly awaited sophomore album, ‘Midas,’ word of the event has leaked. Soaring to the Top 10 in the UK album charts, Wunderhorse’s record served as the successor to their highly regarded 2022 debut album, ‘Cub.’

The band’s 2025 performance at Alexandra Palace will also precede their forthcoming UK tour, which is scheduled to begin later this week and run the whole month. The tour kicks off on Thursday, October 3, with a performance at Nottingham’s Rock City. On October 4 and 5, it will move on to Birmingham and Bristol. I sincerely hope anyone going to the tour has the time of their lives!

The Last Dinner Party Controversy

Okay, let’s dissect this. On Saturday, September 28, the band was scheduled to perform at The Engine Shed in Lincoln. However, a band member’s illness forced the cancellation of the event just before the band was scheduled to go on stage. The following night, September 29, their gig in Cardiff, was also cancelled. Social media users have been discussing the behaviour of the security personnel at their postponed Lincoln performance this weekend. Many male audience members protested on social media prior to the show’s cancellation that the staff at The Engine Shed had interrogated them in-depth about their familiarity with the band when they attempted to enter the venue.

In response to the reports, The Engine Shed said on Sunday, September 29, that “information was provided to our security team about incidents at previous The Last Dinner Party gigs” prompting the change in security procedures. The location issued an apology to the people impacted and indicated that they had conducted their own independent inquiry into the event.

Catfish & The Bottlemen add Heaton Park show to 2025 UK gigs

This could be the week’s most irrational and unexpected announcement, but that’s Van McCann for you! Fans can get tickets for the band’s June 13 performance at the massive venue starting at 10 a.m. on October 2. On October 4, general ticket sales begin at 10 a.m. The Welsh band’s previously scheduled August 1 and August 3 headline stadium performances in Cardiff’s Principality Stadium and London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in 2025 will now be joined by the new date.

Not too long after postponing a gig in Ireland until shortly before it was about to start, the band secretly postponed shows in Australia and the US earlier this month. The reason behind the latter was the illness of one of the band members. Australian fans were informed of the tour’s cancellation just prior to its September 4 scheduled start date. Moshtix, the tour’s ticketing partner, confirmed that illness had forced the cancellation of every event in Australia.

What Have I Been Listening To This Week?

Stranger – Hinds, Grian Chatten : Hinds’s gentle energy is wonderfully complemented by Grian Chatten’s deep, eerie voice, creating a track that is brimming with sorrow. The song’s catchy beat contrasts with the deeper words while the track’s recurring guitar riffs lend the typical indie feel for which Hinds is most recognised.

Mothers – Blossoms :This track has simply perfect lyrics. Tom Ogden says this one’s a nod to his connection with percussionist Joe Donovan. It makes reference to the friendship that existed between the two mothers in the 1980s.

Keep Sweet – Siobhán Winifred : Her narration is filled with emotional intensity, which accentuates her amazing harmonies even more. This eerie acoustic song captures the tremendous emotional conflict that causes numbness in a relationship.

Anything – Stanleys : ‘Anything’ is the ideal song to convey Stanleys’ unique brand of northern soul. Tom Concannon’s vocals have never sounded better than on this track, complemented by the musical powerhouse that is Jake Dorsman, Harry Ivory and Rob Hilton, ‘Anything’ is a masterfully constructed piece.

The Backroom – Black Dove : With its amazing harmonies, this song promises to transport you elsewhere. The instrumentals, which have a particular summer vibe because to their combination of light beats and tones with appealing chords.
