Michael Gallagher pulls out the synthesiser from under the bed of ‘Full House’ to write an indie nostalgia theme that wouldn’t’ sound out of place in its company. The track hybrids his previous two singles off upcoming new EP ‘Have You Seen This Van?’, with the lurid candescence of ‘Out of Time’ fused with the ballad-esque of ‘Rum & Raisin’ cements Gallaghers style.
The track invites the listener down memory lane into conversations with a ‘friend of a friend’, ‘laughing and joking’ dressing itself as audio summer memory that sounds like drinking a warm cider in a field. ‘She was high, I was low’ Gallagher belts over a euphoric, crashing and pounding chorus, surrounded by the quintessential jingle jangle riff, like a little indie blanket. In classic fashion, the Scouse rocker embeds an infectious tail of audience binding ‘oh’ that can peace fly illustrate the crowd feeding this back to him.
The track has youthful 80’s jolt bursting into the next decade with anthems Britpop chorus, imagine Supergrass did Oasis. Whilst ultimately being familiar and reminiscent, the track still feels refreshing and it shows with the vinyl pre-orders of his unreleased EP selling out already, Gallagher emerging talents are already highly backed and it’s one to join the hype on. Listen below to Gallagher’s whirlwind summer memory.
