Dictator have made their first steps into claiming 2025 with the release of their latest single ‘El Nino’. The Scottish band has once again produced an indie anthem, bringing their strong sense of swagger into the new year. Dictator seems to embrace experimentation, eschewing genres and soundscapes to create an all-around outstanding performance.
A charming synth introduces the beginning of the song wonderfully distorts the sound. Over a hip-hop like beat, a synth bass with some warping enters the mix. ‘El Nino’ is evidence that dictators’ artistic bounds are limitless. Its euphoric, upbeat chorus is what makes this track stand out. The bands inspirations radiate throughout; Glass Animals and Gorillaz have played a huge part in how Dictator craft their sound in ‘El Nino’.
‘El Nino’ marks a new era for Dictator, with their talent and charisma the sky is the limit for 2025. The track is set to be the third and final single taken from their upcoming EP ‘Middle of the Road’ which is set for release on the 29th of this month. If this is even a small percentage of what Dictator can achieve, then you can expect sold out arena shows in the not so distant future.
