Tune in With Keira : 23rd January 2025

Welcome to the first instalment of ‘Tune In’ 2025! After a long break and I’m back bringing you all the latest music news from around the world, as well as tracks that I feel deserve a place amongst your playlists! So kick back, relax and let me talk you through what has been happening of late!

Sam Fender Announces New Single ‘Arm’s Length’

If you’re a diehard Fender fan (much like myself) then you’ll already be more than familiar with ‘Arm’s Length’. The track is taken from his upcoming third album and has already had its live debut on the ‘People Watching’ tour last year. It is set for release this Friday! (January 24th)

Speaking on the track, Fender states:  “For a while, it wasn’t even going to be on the album… but thankfully Brooke Bentham joined and was like, are you mad?? It originally came from one of those magic moments where you’re just messing around, and a song literally falls out the sky. It’s about being avoidant and flighty. But also just a simple pop song, which I love.”

Johnny Marr & Franz Ferdinand: The Collab We Never Knew We Needed

In Manchester, Johnny Marr performed three songs with Franz Ferdinand, including ‘Bigmouth Strikes Again’ by The Smiths. On January 18, the Scottish indie band performed as part of Amazon Music’s City Sessions series at the city’s Aviva Studios.

With an emphasis on their recently released album, ‘The Human Fear,’ Franz Ferdinand performed songs from their entire discography. The first song on the album, ‘Build It Up,’ featured Smiths icon Marr. “Do You Want To” from their second album, ‘You Could Have It So Much Better,’ followed shortly after. A rendition of ‘Bigmouth Strikes Again,’ a Smiths classic, completed the collaboration.

The Lottery Winners Release New Single ‘Dirt & Gold’

The Lottery Winners have released a new single entitled ‘Dirt And Gold’, starring Frank Turner. The track is the latest single to be taken from their upcoming album ‘KOKO’. The highly anticipated sequel to their first UK Number One album, 2023’s ‘Anxiety Replacement Therapy’.

The new track, which starts off with a strong, upbeat vibe, progressively develops into a rebellious, uplifting anthem that promotes resiliency. Frank Turner contributes to the song, marking his third consecutive appearance on a Lottery Winners album.

Inhaler Release ‘A Question Of You’

When I tell you this song has been on repeat since its release, I mean it. Without a doubt it’s their best release so far and has raised the bar in terms of the anticipation for the release of their third album ‘Open Wide’.

The amazing Skye Whitfield has written a stunning review of the track and its available on our website now, so go and check it out!

What Have I Been Listening To?

Cracklin’ Rosie – Blossoms : Their ‘Gary’s Covers’ album is extremely underrated. It effectively displays their variety of musical skills. I genuinely hope that this will be in the next set list because Tom Ogden’s vocals have never sounded better.

Full Circle – Good Health Good Wealth : The music flow is crucial to this piece, which feels a bit like The Streets returning to their roots. This song’s spoken word component blends in perfectly with the melody.

IKYK – Alessi Rose : It is a pop anthem. Particularly, this song has echoes of the legendary pop scene of the 2000s. Alessi Rose is bringing the vibrant, flirty, and wild pop genre back to life one song at a time.

A Tender Curiosity – The Royston Club : I adore this song more than words can say. As implied by the song title, ‘tender,’ the vocals in this tune are gentler than those in the other songs.

19 In A Week – Nieve Ella : Nieve Ella respects her age on ’19 in a Week’ and uses it to her advantage to make insightful observations and consider what it means to mature without losing your youth. Any audience can relate to it.
