A Song You’re Bound To Remember: Mercy Kelly – ‘Illusions’ Review

Words: Skye Whitfield

Greeting their listeners with a strong guitar riff, ‘Illusions’ by Mercy Kelly is a song you are bound to remember. Listening to the lyrics, it showcases reminiscence and powerfully expressive emotions. Conceptually the song is raw and understanding, allowing the listener to enjoy easily.

This track conveys their talented capability to combine their lyrics with a suitable melody, ensuring that their fans and listeners can relish in their indie sound. The melody is steady and knowing, the chorus is catchy through repetition and the accompanying instrumental is self-assured, bringing together their musical ability for a song that deserves a spot on everyone’s latest playlists.

Based in Manchester, Mercy Kelly, the five piece are set to play at Lions Den on the 25th of January, the first performance since releasing the recent track, and are also decorating the 2025 Kendal Calling lineup, playing at Tim Peaks Diner. Band members Adam, Jack, Leon, Jacob and Joel have been “buzzing” for fans to hear the tune ever since announcing its release on the 1st of January, claiming that it goes hand in hand with another song of theirs called ‘Lights’ (released in 2024).
