Broncos mark their return with the explosive new tune ‘Lights Out’ ahead of their February tour dates in Ireland. A four-minute snippet of rhythmic post-hardcore that embraces the melodic inclinations of early 2000s post-hardcore while expressing a keen intensity.
‘Lights Out’ uses squandered opportunities, second chances, and rectified situations to serve as philosophical metaphors. Critical situations and crossroads where one decision takes you in one direction and another towards an entirely other reality are the main themes of the verses. The frantic mental process of life decisions, self-doubt, and instincts is depicted through the singers’ intense conflict.
With ‘Lights Out,’ Broncos forgo sentimental romanticism in favour of exuberant, careless recklessness. Building on the post-punk sounds pioneered by Fontaines D.C., the band introduces a new sound to the Irish music scene. The track is filled with crashing drum sounds that take the musicality to a new level.
Broncos was established as a result of several earlier projects that fell through or were never really developed for Cameron (guitar/backing vocals) and Michael (drums). It wasn’t until Shane (bass/vocals) joined that the band truly took shape. It was decided to approach songs and performances with an aura of urgency after the band had been in purgatory for years.
