Revelling in the success of their single releases, Inhaler have finally revealed their thirteen-track, third album ‘Open Wide’.
The four singles shared with fans ahead of the album have been nothing short of engaging. Driven by guitar-pop instrumentals and blooming vocals, ‘Your House’ was the first teaser to Inhaler’s new body of work. ‘Open Wide’ brings a calmer essence to the album, partnered with emotional vulnerability throughout the lyrical depiction in the track. ‘A Question Of You’ is vivacious and fulfilling, up-keeping the melodic energy packaged within the accumulation of songs. Released two days before the album, “Billy (Yeah Yeah Yeah)” is one that fans have sought after, the snippet posted on the band’s social media has crafted a loud attraction, and the reaction has been filled with excitement. The fourth single is steady and addictive.
Curated with Grammy Award winning producer ‘Kid Harpoon’, Inhaler have delved into their pop side, doubling down on how the record has been used to honestly express their current musical directions. Working with artists such as Harry Styles, Florence Welch and Kings of Leon, Harpoon has built a well-structured reputation for himself, with all of his collaborative producing work becoming well-listened-to singles and highly praised. Uplifting the band’s album tracks, the London-based ‘House Gospel Choir’ bring a powerful foundation to accompany Elijah’s vocals throughout the collection of songs, a clear demonstration of how the band want to ensure their lyricism is heard and well-recieved.
Following on, the Irish quartet have unleashed a further 9 tracks to accompany the hit singles within the album. Opening the album ‘Eddie In The Darkness’ brings a passionate edge to their third album, backed with rugged guitar sounds. Songs such as ‘All I Got Is You’, ‘Again’, ‘The Charms’, ‘Concrete’ and ‘Still Young’ are cool, calm and collected; a perfect breather to slot in between their other heavier, guitar-centred songs. ‘Little Things’ and ‘X-ray’ are standout tracks, their raw and rough-round-the-edges rhythmic route of storytelling is one that’s sure to manifest itself into someone’s favourite playlist. The beginning synths of ‘Even Though’ pull you in, a bouncy guitar-pop sound soon follows, perfect for a long drive during a road-trip.
Overall, it’s apparent that Inhaler has nurtured this album to establish its long-lasting impact, it is certainly creative and compelling. In a Live setting, the songs come alive and flourish, striving to encapsulate the emotions that were poured into the writing and recording process.
