Nostalgic Double Trouble: Twilight Stunt Work – ‘You & I’ Review

Words: Shannon Donnelly

There isn’t a day that goes by where a part of me that wishes I had grown up in the early 2000s When low-cut jeans were all the rage, and every week brought a new banger from the pop-punk scene I still worship today. When Listening to Twilight Stunt Works’ 2024 single, ‘You & I’, I am instantly transported to that era, radiatinga pure sense of nostalgia.

The track starts off strong with a captivating melodic guitar riff, beautifully leading us into the first verse. Immediately, The drums hit you with a pop punk beat: they are slappy, tastefully compressed and have Travis Barker written all over them. The lead vocals are delightfully charming, carrying a familiar yet distinct nasal tone that perfectly complements the track’s overall vibe.

I especially enjoy the chugging rhythm guitars in the pre-chorus, which set the tone for the Pop/indie-punk sound they are definitely achieving. Another standout feature is the call-and-response vocal arrangement distinctively enhanced by the telephone distortion, which for me is the absolute cherry on top with this track.

The build-up to the chorus, followed by a dramatic drop, creates an explosion of energy that had me practically kicking my feet little feet in excitement. This song is emotionally charged and full of dynamic shifts. It 100% feels like I’ve discovered a hidden gem with this band.

I’m eagerly anticipating what Twilight Stunt Works will serve to the table in future, and I can’t lie– I’m starving for more.
