Monday’s Problem have once again showcased their unique and brilliant sound with their latest release, ‘(Not) A Love Song’.
Right from the first note, the track draws you in with a catchy melody that is both fresh and nostalgic. This song is a perfect blend of what we love about indie-rock (think old-school Arctic Monkeys and The Killers), whilst also still sounding fresh and interesting, leaving us all wanting more.
Lyrically, “(Not) A Love Song” takes an interesting approach. It delves into themes of love and relationships but cleverly subverts expectations by emphasising the complexities and nuances rather than the typical romantic tropes:
“And she’s better off loving not avoiding me
It’s kinda funny how ya don’t wanna know me
But you talk like that
While ya kissing me slowly”
The instrumentation is lush without being overwhelming, allowing the vocals space to shine. The harmonies add depth, and the guitar riffs are both melodic and driving, creating an exhilarating listening experience.
Overall, “(Not) A Love Song” is a testament to Monday’s Problem’s growth as a band and as artists. It’s a clever, catchy track that captures the essence of modern relationships whilst staying true to the band’s distinctive sound.
The track is sure to resonate with fans old and new, and it’s likely to become a staple of their live shows. As someone who has followed this band since their first single, ‘Black and White’, they really are a sound to be heard! If you haven’t listened to it yet, you’re missing out on one of the standout releases of the year!
