There’s a storm brewing in the Irish music scene; and its name is Queen Bitch who has been described by Melodic Mag as the “perfect blend of rock, blues, and grunge” a fantastic description of this new up and coming Irish artist
Róisín Bohan also known as “Queen Bitch” is making serious noise in the Irish music scene and it’s not just from the amplifiers. With her singles already setting the fire for a great discography and a debut album looming on the late 2025 horizon, Queen Bitch is proving she’s not just part of the scene; she’s actually redefining it, which is very exciting to witness in real time; with the release of ‘Even If I Pray’ and ‘A Popular Song’
‘Even If I Pray’ is a slow-burner drenched in distortion, and dripping with raw ache, the song is driven by the existential pull of moving on. Queen Bitch doesn’t beg for healing, rather she claws through the ashes, her voice throughout is jagged with grief and resolve. And as the track builds, a glimmer of hope breaks through in the form of a searing guitar solo, equal parts resurrection and release. It’s the kind of song that lingers in your chest and in your mind
Then comes ‘A Popular Song’, which is a feral B-side track that feels more like a battle cry than it does a ballad. It has wall-of-sound guitars and vocals that tear through the track, it’s a full-throttle anthem for anyone who’s ever wanted to burn the rulebook and start again. It’s messy, it’s manic, it’s magnificent
Recorded at Beardfire Studios and produced by David Virgin, the tracks benefit from the muscle of a killer band: Rohan Healy on bass, Al Quiff on drums, and snarling lead work from both Healy and Petri Visser. Topped off by mastering legend Romesh Dodangoda, the result is nothing short of incredible
What sets Queen Bitch apart is not just her sound but it’s her presence. She doesn’t chase trends or polish the edges, you can catch her June 21 at The Crowbar Terrace. Where you will come for the riffs but stay for the reckoning
I am truly looking forward to hearing more from her throughout the rest of 2025, definitely watch this space.
